Goals
The Sales team was currently selling pricing by screen sharing the Estimate. Because we were moving to a self-serve model, we needed to ensure that homeowners understood the terms of the Investment without the need for a 30-minute meeting.
After listening to screen shares, I outlined missing content.
How might we exercise?
We worked as a team to rewrite our problem statement— how might we ensure homeowners understand how our pricing works?
Then we worked to generate 30+ ideas, which varied from a guided product walkthrough to third-party integrations to UI changes.
We voted on which ideas felt deliverable in 2 weeks and aligned on the following solution elements.
Key solution elements
1. Re-organize content
Having those screen shares as a guide, I was able to re-work the content into more manageable, organized sections.
2. Keep sliders as is
They were a beast of a component to build and would’ve been a beast to change, so those had to stay.

Testers had a favorite, and we felt confident moving forward.
“Oh yeah this one makes more sense to me. I like how it’s very clear that you can play around with the sliders and change the Hometap share.”
“I prefer the second one because there’s more content explaining what’s owed.”
“This one makes it more clear that the earlier I settle, the less money goes to Hometap.”
